ACTIVITIES:
The Cape of Good Hope is crammed full of activities for everyone, from foodies, to sports enthusiasts, for the easy going to the more energetic. Some of the activities in our immediate viscinity are:
Beaches:
The nearest beach (visible from our balcony) is Long Beach, and is approx 20 minutes walk, and 5 minutes drive from our apartment. The Cape Point is actually home to 18 beautiful beaches, so you will have more than enough to choose from!
Walks:
Within easy walking distance (5 minutes walk) is the Silvermine Nature Reserve (the hills seen from our balcony). This offers many beautiful walks and views. Close by the the Cape Point Nature Reserve. Just down 'Ou Kaapse Weg' (5 minutes drive away) is the beginning of the Constantia Wine Route which offers many beautiful walks as well.
Horse Riding:
Noordhoek, our immediate neighbour suburb, is well known as a 'horse' area, and there are riding opportunities for any level or rider. Rides are taken in the countryside as well as along the beautiful beaches.
Historic Sites:
The entire Cape area is steeped in history, and one does not have to go far to find many interesting estates, museums and other sites of interest.
Game Viewing:
Within 5 minutes drive, in the direction of Kommetijie, is a private game reserve offering safari drives and game viewing. The coastline also offers an abundance of natural wildlife in the form of seals, dolphins, penguins, sharks and whales.
Shopping:
Our apartment is built right next to a world class shopping centre/mall. This offers lots of shopping opportunities as well as groceries, restaurants and cinema. Approx 10-30 minutes drive from us you will find many other malls and promenades offering the best shopping that South Africa has to offer. Top malls include Canal Walk, Cavendish Square and the V&A Waterfront.
